Get Certified to Teach IELTS – Make Your Students Stand Out
This course is designed to help you prepare your students for success in IELTS Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing.
Each skill is one module and includes video lessons, practice activities, examiner tips, teacher interviews, and teaching demonstrations. You’ll get over 30 activities and techniques per module, a peer discussion forum, and continuous guidance from your tutor and IELTS examiners.
Can I study “How to Teach IELTS”?
You’re eligible to join one or more of the How to Teach IELTS modules if you:
- Have some TEFL teaching experience and want to improve your IELTS teaching skills
- Have at least a B2 level of English
- Can dedicate around 5 hours weekly for the course
(Note: You don’t need to be teaching IELTS currently to be successful.)
What Is the Study Format?
All modules are delivered 100% online, part-time, and asynchronously. You can access materials and complete tasks on your own schedule—there’s no need to be online at specific times.
Each week includes tutor support, a forum for discussion, collaborative activities, and both required and optional tasks. You’ll be expected to stay on track weekly to engage fully with your group.
The courses are both practical and reflective—you’ll test new techniques and share insights with peers. Previous students often say these peer discussions are among the most valuable aspects of the course.
If you choose the full bundle, you’ll complete one module every four weeks, with a one-week break before starting the next.
What will I learn?
Each module (Speaking, Listening, Writing, or Reading) covers the following:
- Overview: Structure, task types, and grading criteria of the IELTS exam paper.
- Common Challenges: Insights into frequent student mistakes and teacher difficulties, along with practical solutions from experienced educators.
- Activities: A variety of tested classroom techniques to help students improve their skills.
- Exam Strategies: Tips on exam preparation and practice activities that focus on skill-specific test techniques.
- Feedback Methods: Ideas for keeping students motivated through various feedback approaches like 1:1 tutorials, peer review, correction codes, and video analysis.
Duration and your time commitment
We advise you to spend about 5 hours each week, for each 4 week module.
Assessment & certificate
There is no formal assessment. By completing the weekly tasks and actively participating with your tutor and fellow cohort members, you will earn a certificate of completion for each module.
All certificates are issued digitally and stored on a verified, registered platform. This ensures that any prospective employer, client, or other individual you choose to share it with can trust its authenticity. The certificate will appear like this :
This means everything is kept as simple and convenient as possible for you. A digital certificate is safer and more secure than a paper one — it won’t get lost in the mail, won’t suffer wear and tear over time, and won’t go missing. It’s always accessible, can be shared with a single click, and you can print as many copies as you need, whenever you like. Plus, it’s more environmentally friendly. By reducing the use of paper, ink, and shipping, we help lower the carbon footprint.
